I own two G3 Hubs, one on a carbon set of rims, the other on a bomb proof set of AL, both were expertly handcrafted by the team at Saris/Powertap. Next to my Cycleops indoor trainer, these two wheelsets & hubs are some of the best investments I have ever made as a cyclist. When you find a company that combines outstanding quality, excellent customer service, product affordability and packages all of this with a made in the USA 100% satisfaction guarantee, total no brainer. The product is rock solid in all conditions and in all seasons, if you ever are in need of a recalibration, the Team in Wisconsin has your back. If this is your 1st powermeter purchase like it was for me; you are in luck, this just may be the last one you will ever need, the G3 is just that good.

Powertap hub works well. It should be known that when it needs to be serviced it will cost around $400. Also the freehub body is soft and also needs to be replaced every few years for around $100. The powermeter is good but it needs regular input of money.

          Comments:

I bought the G3 hub when I decided to go with a new set of Reynolds carbon wheels. Previously I had the first release of Garmin power meter peddles. I had so many frustrating issues with the Garmin peddles that it forced me to research other meters available. After my own research and then numerous discussions with fellow riders I decided to go with the PowerTap G3. I heard both but great reviews of the G3 for its simplicity and reliability but what really pushed the decision was the consistent rave reviews of PowerTap customer after sale support. I couldn't be happier with the decision! I move these wheels, and my power meter, back and forth between my two road bikes and my cyclocross bike all the time. Even after I thought I knew and loved everything about my G3 I was surprised the first time I switched my wheels between bikes. I hadn't switched my speed/cadence sensor for that ride but when I started riding my Garmin 810 was showing me my speed and more surprisingly my cadence. After the ride I immediately did some more research and learned that the G3 produces this cadence data natively by calculation. I immediately removed my speed/cadence sensor and have never missed it! The G3 hub power meter is the best!!! Money well invested!!!

I hate my power meter. There are days when I feel like I'm really pumping it out and the Power Tap says "buddy you ain't half trying yet" Uphill, downhill, headwind, tailwind, watts don't lie. Well made, smooth rolling and reliable.

I was so pleased with the first Powertap G3 Hub I have now purchased a second one. Extremely reliable, very easy to set up and with a very consistent power reading. The weight penalty is hardy noticeable and for the price it is the best option out there.
